You may still have coverage. Many plans reimburse part or all of the cost of therapy with an out-of-network provider, and we’ll give you a detailed superbill after each visit that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

Common insurance questions
Do I need a referral from my doctor?
Medicare and Health First Colorado both require a doctor, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant to order or certify your therapy. Some private plans require one too. If you don’t have a referral yet, call us and we’ll help you get one.
Does Medicare cover speech therapy for Parkinson’s, ALS, or other progressive conditions?
Yes. Medicare covers therapy that helps you maintain your abilities or slow a decline, not only therapy that helps you improve. That includes SPEAK OUT! voice therapy for Parkinson’s.
What will I pay with Medicare?
After you meet the yearly Part B deductible, you typically pay 20% of the Medicare approved amount for each visit. A Medicare supplement (Medigap) plan may cover some or all of that 20%.
Does Health First Colorado cover swallowing therapy for adults?
Yes, when it’s medically necessary, such as after a stroke or with a neurological condition. After the first 12 sessions, we submit a prior authorization request so your therapy can continue.
What’s a superbill?
It’s a detailed receipt with the diagnosis and treatment codes your insurance company needs. If we’re out of network with your plan, you can submit it to them for reimbursement.
Do you offer therapy in Spanish?
Yes. Nicholas provides evaluations and therapy in both English and Spanish.
